We’re Here to Deliver the Answers You Need
Before your visit, you may have some questions about our policies or the treatments we use. For your convenience, our most frequently asked questions are listed on this page. If you don’t see the information you need here, please contact us directly so we can help you.
How does the dentist keep up to date on all of the current techniques and materials?
Dr. Newman is extensively trained, but because dentistry is constantly changing, he and Dr. Puglisi do many things to stay up to date on all of the current findings. They frequently attend continuing education courses at institutions like the Dawson Center, Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dentistry, PAC Live, and the Texas Institute of Advanced Dental Science, which all focus on the latest in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. They also belong to a variety of organizations that offer seminars and conferences on changes in dentistry. They even encourage their team to maintain their certifications and never stop learning.
Can you show me what my new smile will look like ahead of time?
Yes. Our office has a digital imaging system. Dr. Newman can take pictures of your teeth with our digital or intraoral cameras and use our imaging system to show you how a particular treatment would enhance the appearance of your teeth. They can also create diagnostic wax-ups of your teeth, so you can touch and hold your potential new smile. If you have questions about our digital imaging system or our diagnostic wax-ups, Dr. Newman is always happy to demonstrate how both processes work.
Do you accept my insurance plan?
In this day and age, we know deciphering your insurance benefits can be confusing. We are happy to help you with any insurance concerns you may have. We are in-network with Delta Dental PPO and Premier, Cigna, United Healthcare, and United Concordia. For all other plans, we request payment at the time of service. We will gladly fill out the necessary paperwork for you and submit it.
I have a temporary crown in my mouth. What happens if it comes off or breaks?
When a temporary crown falls off or breaks, reattach the crown using dental adhesive or toothpaste. Then, call our practice immediately so we can schedule an appointment to evaluate the damage with Dr. Newman.
What different payment options do you provide?
Our office accepts cash, checks, and credit cards such as Master Card, Visa, Discover, and American Express. Any amount not covered by your insurance is your responsibility.
How can I safely whiten my teeth?
Whitening has come a long way in the last decade. With so many options on the market these days, many of our patients ask about the safest and most effective method of whitening their teeth.
Since each mouth is unique, we need to evaluate your teeth to recommend a specific treatment. If your teeth are cracked, chipped, or discolored, Dr. Newman may recommend restorative services, such as veneers or bonding. If you want to bleach your teeth, we use several whitening products in our office. Both methods are completely safe and extremely effective.
My husband is terrified of going to the dentist, but he has a LOT of work that needs to be done. What can be done to make this easier for him without knocking him out?
Your husband is definitely not alone in feeling this way. Millions of Americans feel tremendous anxiety concerning dental treatment. In fact, fear, coupled with embarrassment and shame, has kept nearly half of all Americans from seeking necessary treatment for years, if not decades. Fortunately, many of these people have found out that “dental phobia” doesn’t have to keep them away from the dentist any longer! At Gramercy Dental Studio, we’re proud to offer guilt-free care.
Amenities like Tempur-Pedic® pads in our dental chairs and laughing gas will help take the edge off, but these often aren’t enough to completely alleviate fear. For some fearful patients, Relaxation Dentistry is just what the doctor ordered! With oral conscious relaxation, patients just take a safe little pill one hour before their appointment. This pill helps them to relax and eliminates their dental fear.
Most patients snooze through the appointment, feel no discomfort, and have no memory of the procedures. Years of dental neglect are often erased in just one appointment without undergoing general anesthesia. Many of these fearful patients begin chewing without pain and smiling with confidence for the first time in years! These benefits are often life-changing for people who have procrastinated on improving their oral health or enhancing their smiles. Relaxation Dentistry is even beneficial for patients who aren’t fearful but would like to be more comfortable during lengthy dental procedures.
Your husband should pursue having his dental work completed as soon as possible to avoid more serious problems. It sounds as if oral conscious relaxation might be exactly what he needs to overcome his fear and to get his mouth healthy again.
I want my front teeth to look better, but I do not want to wear braces. What would you recommend?
Although orthodontic devices are less intrusive than they were in the past, many people want to improve the appearance of their front teeth more quickly and comfortably. In addition to braces, we have the cosmetic services you need to straighten your teeth. We offer Invisalign®, a method that straightens your teeth over a few appointments. We may also recommend porcelain veneers to improve the appearance of your teeth.
Dr. Newman believes that each mouth is unique. If you would like to enhance the appearance of your smile, contact us to schedule an appointment. After listening to your goals and concerns, Dr. Newman can suggest the best method to help you straighten your smile.
My spouse snores and keeps me up at night. I have heard a dentist might be able to prescribe an appliance that prevents snoring. Can you help?
Certainly. We offer snoreguards, a small appliance that holds the mouth and throat open while you sleep and prevents snoring. These devices are easy to use, and we customize them to ensure your comfort. If you or your spouse snores, we suggest visiting us for an evaluation.
